Compete

CrossFit Competitive Track

  • Old Pennywell Road

Service Description

This is the new class at Islander that will follow the Competitive Track; an additional program provided by CrossFit Affiliate Programming (CAP) for individuals wishing to improve their competitive advantage! With a focus on skill sets that are often seen at the competitive level, this track is perfect for those looking to challenge themselves beyond the daily “Workout of the Day”. This track is also suitable for those that feel like they can take on more training throughout the week and for those wishing to perform better on the leaderboard. Islander compete sessions will be guided by Coach Grace (with additional assistance from Coach Dee and Coach Sean) and will involve a WOD brief and question period prior to the session beginning. Unlike most classes, the Compete session does not have a fully guided warm-ups as it is more “getting work done” and “less demonstration” in these sessions. Of course, the coaches are there to help answer any and all questions, give workout tips and help athletes get set-up as well. The coach will also participate in the workout with the group. This is not designed as a typical class but rather a sweat session in a healthy competitive environment for those athletes choosing to participate side by side! We would like to caution people that these sessions can be longer and more taxing. So if you are unsure if you would be ready to take the step into Islander Compete, feel free to reach out and ask us! That said, there is NO minimum CrossFit experience requirement. There is, however, a base level of fitness and knowledge required to attend these sessions as everyone works together to accomplish the work load. You can view the compete track workouts in SugarWOD by using the drop down menu where it says “Workout of the Day” and select “Competitive”. The CAP compete track offers sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday and Thursday are considered “Rest Days”. In our Sunday group session, we will follow the programming for Sunday. If you wish to follow the other 4 competitive track workouts (Tues/Wed/Fri and Sat), feel free to do so in open gym or you may choose to follow our affiliate programming with class as you normally would.
